Let us start right away, what you must never spend gems on! We have made a short list of restrictions that are not worth spending gems on in 2026! Half of your gems on these things will simply burn, so you should know about this! 

You should absolutely not spend gems on:

  • Finishing construction early

  • Donating units

  • Speeding up army requests

  • Speeding up Capital Gold forging

  • Buying a shield outside the Legend League

  • Buying any resources for gems

  • Buying the Gold Pass

  • Speeding up resource collectors

  • Refreshing Clan Games tasks

  • Hero skins (especially if you are free to play)

  • Additional base slots for Clan War Leagues

  • Buying resources for gems

This entire list does not affect your progression in any meaningful way, you will not feel any difference if you do not buy these! What you should spend gems on

The most important gem expenses:

  • Buy all 5 builders. 

  • Upgrade the Builder Base assistant

  • Buy the Goblin Builder, he will give you fast and efficient account progression!

Next by priority:

  • Purchase Books of Heroes

The best free ways to get gems

A great source of gem income is the Gem Mine on the Builder Base. At the maximum level it brings about 5 gems per day, which is roughly 155 gems per month consistently! 

One of the most profitable ways to earn gems is achievements. By 2026 there are more than 168 achievements you can complete, and they will give you around 21 000 gems.

Join the right clan where everyone works and does not just chill - this will give you about 540 gems per month.

Sell magical items that you have left «for later», it is better to sell them for gems than let them take up inventory space. For example, we always do this on all Clash of Clans accounts.

What you should not sell:

  • Books (especially Books of Heroes and key upgrade books)

  • Hammers

  • Builder Potions

  • Laboratory Potions

  • Pet Potions

At the same time, even with books there is a nuance: using them on upgrades that last less than 7 days is very inefficient. On lower TH levels it is often easier to sell them or use them on the Builder Base assistant or the Goblin Builder.
