Counter-Strike 2 requires high performance for comfortable gameplay. This short guide will help you adjust the graphics so you can enjoy the game without lags while still keeping good image quality! CS2 is frequently updated, and FPS often jumped unpredictably, so if you don’t have a powerful PC or laptop, we will try to help you!

These adjustments will help you: 

  • Screen resolution: default, but you can reduce it to 1280×960
  • Player contrast boost: enabled (does not affect performance but greatly helps in gameplay)
  • Multisampling mode: CMAA2. If your PC is powerful – MSAAx4
  • Shadow quality, textures, shaders, particle effects, ambient occlusion: set to Low
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR): quality
  • FidelityFX: quality
  • Nvidia Reflex Low Latency: off


In-game settings also affect performance:

  • Maximum acceptable ping: set to 100 to avoid network delay issues when playing against distant opponents
  • Bandwidth limit: with unstable internet, limit to 4 Mbit/s or lower – this reduces packet loss. With stable wired internet, you can disable this option
  • Many esports players lower their resolution to increase FPS. For example, the 4:3 format (1280×1024) stretched to 16:9 increases performance and makes enemies appear wider, simplifying aiming.
  • A monitor with a refresh rate of 144 Hz or higher will provide smoother and more responsive visuals

Many launch parameters in CS2 are now outdated; they were mostly relevant in CS:GO!

  • -novid – Skips the intro video
  • +fps_max 0 – Removes all FPS limits
  • -nojoy – Disables joystick support, freeing resources
  • -noaafonts – Disables font anti-aliasing

General system improvements:

  • Before launching the game, close all background tabs
  • Set your power mode to maximum performance
  • If you have an HDD, run a defragmentation (not needed for SSD)

  • Use utilities to clean temporary files and system cache
  • Disable Xbox Game Bar and other GPU-heavy gaming features
