In the creation and improvement of equipment, an important role is played by resources from common animals. Therefore, in the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, Aloy will need to hunt not only massive mechanical creatures but also the usual fauna.

One particularly important animal for crafting in this game is - boars, hunting which is not as simple a task as it might seem at first glance. It may take a great deal of effort to obtain the bone and hide needed by the player.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Our store has prepared a few tips on how to obtain boar bones and hides in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered:

Hunting these specific animals allows players to obtain two rare items: the boar bone and its hide. The bone is a very rare item, while the hide is even rarer, making the task more challenging for the player.
The game world is abundant with these animals, but to get the trophies in the required quantity, you will have to shoot more than a few boars.
We recommend looking for large groups of boars in dense forests, focusing on areas with lots of greenery, and frequently visiting forest zones to make your hunting successful. The Focus feature will help speed up the process, allowing you to mark multiple animals at once and keep them in sight as long as possible.

Why are boar bones and hides needed in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered?

Boar Bone

In this game, you will need only 3 boar bones: one of them should be used to upgrade the hunter bow quiver, and the other two for the third upgrade of the resource pouch. Theoretically, merchants may accept bones in exchange for other items, but we do not recommend doing this; it’s better to sell the surplus for 25 metal shards each.

Boar Hide

Boar hides are more in demand, and interestingly, the need for them increases every time, especially if you are playing on Ultra Hard difficulty. Generally, for a standard playthrough, you’ll need only 4 hides, while on Ultra Hard, you’ll need as many as 5 hides.
Boar hides are used for the following upgrades:

  • Level 3 upgrade: hunter bow quiver.
  • Level 4 upgrade: resource pouch, as well as the ammunition pouch for Tripcaster.

To craft the Shadow Rattler weapon on any platform, whether it’s Steam or another, you will need one hide, and on Ultra Hard difficulty, you will need two. Additionally, 5 hides will be required for players completing New Game+ to create the Adept Stormslinger, and on Ultra Hard, all ten will be necessary.
