We from various publications had the chance to personally test an early version of Elden Ring: Nightreign. These events occurred before the official premiere at TGA 2024. Additionally, they visited the FromSoftware office and shared details with us. The preliminary version of the game Elden Ring is available for purchase in our store!

Great news: upon release, Elden Ring: Nightreign will be a full-fledged game without microtransactions. FromSoftware also won’t turn it into a service, at least in the near future. The exact price of the title has not been officially announced yet, but it’s known to be comparable to the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Our store also reports good news: owning the original Elden Ring is not required to play Elden Ring: Nightreign.

Events of Elden Ring: players shouldn’t expect deep immersion into the lore of the Lands Between. All events mostly unfold in an "alternate universe".
The developers have focused on gameplay with teams of three players. However, this is not a limitation—you can play solo or in a full team. Note that two-player mode is absent, and like the original Elden Ring, co-op allows participation from both friends and random players.

Essentially, this game is a roguelike. It features a modified version of the Underworld, and enemy locations are randomly generated in each run.

The trial begins with players selecting one of eight classes and a final boss to battle. Before that, players must survive three in-game days (lasting 10–15 minutes each) and defeat two minor bosses. During this time, the team roams the Underworld, farming runes for upgrades.

The character editor is absent in Elden Ring: Nightreign: all heroes and builds are pre-defined. During gameplay, players can discover new weapons, spells, and builds.

The developers have significantly simplified the loot system in Elden Ring: Nightreign due to accelerated leveling. Now every hero can use almost any weapon. Enemies drop random loot upon death, including items, abilities, stat bonuses, and more. Note: the inventory in co-op mode is shared. Regular items are accessible to all team members, except for individual boss loot.

The mechanics of Elden Ring: Nightreign were inspired by battle royales. For example, each run begins with players parachuting onto the map, similar to PUBG. To encourage players to move toward the center of a circle, the game zone gradually shrinks during the session. Developers did not include PvP elements—invading other worlds or attacking teammates is strictly prohibited. Soon, the game will be available on Steam and other platforms, including our store. We’ve compiled a top list of stores for buying gaming goods—check it out and take note!

In conclusion, Elden Ring: Nightreign plays similarly to the original Elden Ring, with exceptions such as faster running, no fall damage, and additional movement options.

This update introduces a form of metaprogression linked to permanent loot and the personal stories of each hero.
