The new version of the popular Counter-Strike series, namely Counter-Strike 2, features different competitive modes. In this article we will look at the main differences between Premier and Competitive modes in CS2.

Premier mode in CS2

Premier mode in CS2 is a new system that differs from competitive mode. In Premier, players are assigned a CS rating based on the results of their games. To get your first CS rating, you must win at least 10 matches in CS2 Premier.

During qualification matches, your ranking is based on the results of your games as well as the ranking of your opponents. For example, defeating higher rated players increases your rating more than defeating lower rated players.

After completing 10 matches, you get your first CS rating, and the system starts matching you with opponents that match your skill level. Wins earn you ranking points, while losses lower your ranking. It's also important to remember that a draw can change your rating depending on the system's score.

Teams in Premier mode utilize a voting-based map selection and banning system, which adds a strategic element to map selection and represents one of the key differences from the competitive mode in CS2.

Competition mode in CS2

The competitive mode in CS2 will be familiar to players who have already experienced CSGO. This mode functions almost identically to the ranked mode in the previous version of Counter-Strike.

Players choose the maps they want to play on, instead of a pick and ban process like in Premier mode, and then compete for ranks, similar to CSGO. This means you can once again strive to achieve Global Elite status.

However, there is an important change.

In Counter-Strike 2, ranks are map-specific, allowing you to showcase your skills on different maps. This means that you can have different ranks on different maps, depending on your skills and experience on each map.
