In the game Slay the Spire 2 if you find a compass, it offers you the Ancient Teskatara when moving to another stage of the game. The item completely replaces the standard map with a single straight path. As a player, you lose the ability to choose directions, going through a predefined chain of locations.
Activation of the artifact gives you a completely clear level progression process. The path you will follow removes the element of randomness, offering several challenges.
Here is the order of room visiting:
- Common enemy
- Unknown event
- Fight with a regular foe
- Rest site
- Another standard battle
- Campfire
- Random encounter
- Chest with loot
- Mysterious incident
- Second treasure storage
- Unexplored situation
- Merchant shop
- Battle with elite monster
- Safe camp
- Second elite opponent
- Final rest
- Final boss

This kind of stability fits well for established decks that only need slight adjustments. Plenty of campfires helps calmly prepare for major (final) battles. However, the lack of branching makes inventory a very rare acquisition. Main disadvantages of the straightforward path:
- Complete inability to bypass tough enemies before the finale
- Few elites to upgrade relics of the “Stone Sword” type
- Presence of much stronger alternatives like “Delicious Cookie” or “Toy Box”

Before talking to the village, be sure to study the classic generation via the icon in the upper right corner. If the standard map contains branches with three chests (secrets), feel free to ignore Teskatara’s offer. If there are few artifacts left before the end of the stage, it will be hard for you on high ascension levels.
