How many characters are in the game!
As of 2025, the game features 168 champions, and approximately every couple of months developers release a new character, so the number of active heroes keeps growing. Each hero is unique, has their own abilities, story, and role in the game.
It takes time to find your own champion, because among them are dragons, teleporting mages, and even those who simply hit with their tail. We do not recommend trying to learn all heroes - even high-ranked experienced players usually stick to 3–4 champions, and even that is unstable. Sometimes errors like Van 57, Van 81, Van 1067 occur, and earlier we explained how to use them.
Male and female heroes in League of Legends
Out of all 168 champions, 65 are women, and the rest are men, non-binary beings, or completely unidentifiable. Mid and bot lanes are mostly dominated by female characters, such as: Kai’Sa, Zoe, and Akali. Male champions usually take top and jungle — for example: Graves, Riven, Olaf. But the gender of your champion isn’t the important part — focus on mechanics, not on gender, the profile avatar doesn’t matter.
Best characters for 2025:
In 2025, the meta sets its own rules — at the top now are those who are hard to take down in a few hits and who can quickly wipe the enemy lane.
1. Kai’Sa — a flexible ADC with a dash-ultimate and marks, who can be built as an assassin or a machine gun.
2. Zoe — a mid-laner with teleportation, control spells, and explosive damage at any stage of the game.
3. Graves — a jungler whose shotgun tears off HP and who isn’t afraid of fighting in narrow pathways.
4. Riven — a top-laner for those who aren’t afraid of responsibility and can click 10 times per second.
5. Lulu — a support who boosts allies’ attack speed and cancels enemy ultimates.
Don’t chase the meta recklessly, even the strongest champion will not save you if it’s your first time playing them. It’s better to properly master a single hero than track account stats on 20 random characters and ruin sessions for other players.
